Roped Areas
At Redpoint under 16's can climb in the roped areas under the supervision of an experienced adult (over 18) roped climber who is registered with us.
(An experienced roped climber is classed as someone who can put on a harness, tie in and belay safely)
If you are not an experienced climber and haven't booked an instructed session there is no guarantee that you will be able to climb!
If you are unexperienced or you need to refresh your skills you will need to book in advance an instructed session with us.
Bouldering Areas
- Under 16's can climb in the bouldering areas under the direct supervision of an experienced adult (over 18) climber who is registered with us.
- Bouldering only members can only supervise novices in the bouldering rooms not in the roped areas.
- If you would like to supervise your kids in the bouldering room but are not a climber yourself then you need to book in advance a bouldering induction lesson for you and your kids.
Other Options
Our Family TasterĀ sessions are a perfect way to enjoy the experience of climbing with your kids (age 5+) under the expert care of one of our instructors. Tasters sessions last 1 hour and will introduce you to both roped climbing and bouldering.
If you personally don't want to climb but would like to bring your kids along we also offer kids lessons or our popular Kids Climbing Clubs.
Another great way to introduce your kids to climbing is to book yourself on to one of our Learn to Climb Courses. These courses focus on the saftey skills you need to be able to climb independently in the centre.
An experienced adult climber can supervise up to 2 novices. There is no minimum age for the novices you can supervise.
Under 16's Climbing Unsupervised
There is a very strict criteria if you would like your child to be able to climb unsupervised that involves an assessment and some history of climbing with us. More details can be found on our Under 16 assessments page
