Redpoint Climbing Centre has many years experience of taking children outdoor climbing using fully qualified outdoor instructors, and at present is the only dedicated indoor climbing centre in the West Midlands to have an AALA licence.
A licence indicates that the provider has been inspected by the HSE who are currently designated as the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority, with particular attention being paid to their safety management systems with young people, and has been able to demonstrate compliance with nationally accepted standards of good practice in the delivery of adventure activities to young people, with due regard to the benefits and risks of the activity.
If you have been coming along to the Rock Monkeys Club for a while and would like to expand on your climbing experience and try something new, then our kids' outdoor climbing day is just what you are looking for.
What is involved:
3 hours climbing session with all the rigging, safety and equipment sorted by our instructors, leaving your Rock Monkeys to just enjoy the climbing while you relax in the countryside!
First Steps Outdoor Climbing for Parents and Kids
The perfect day if you want to climb with your child. This is a full day course rather than the 1/2 day for Wild Monkeys
In our opinion there isn't a better place to have your first experience climbing outdoors than on one of the fantastic Gritstone Edges of the Peak District!
Previous venues have include The Roaches, Windgather, Stanage, Burbage, Birchens Edge, Harborough Rocks, Trevor quarries (Llangollen)
What is involved:
- An introduction to outdoor climbing by a fully qualified instructor
- All equipment included
- Plenty of climbing as your instructor sets all the safety ropes up for you
- Normally about a 6hr climbing day
- It is advantageous if you know how to top rope belay but not essential (ask us about belay courses at Redpoint)
